Data and the African Diaspora 49499 – HCSC 105 – 01; TR 1:00 pm – 2:15 pm
(3 credits) This is a beginner level course in data analysis and data visualization studying the most useful types of information that you will find with tables, graphs and numerical values. This course will demonstrate, through concrete examples using R, how to explore, measure, visualize, and communicate various aspects of your datasets. There are no prerequisites. Freshmen and sophomores are strongly encouraged to enroll.

Research Proj: AI Discovery 49371 – HCSC 255 – 01; M 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm
(1 credit) Open to undergrad students at all AUC schools! Learn to manipulate data to improve Black lives! AUC freshmen, sophomores and juniors can enroll in this 1-credit hour course for a virtual, immersive experience in artificial intelligence (AI) that includes excellent networking opportunities with AI professionals, a hands-on introduction to computer science and artificial intelligence, ethical issues surrounding AI implementation, and tech careers. Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are eligible. You will build a portfolio that is attractive to future mentors and employers. No coding or prior AI experience is necessary. 1-2 hours/week to explore the foundations of artificial intelligence, teach coding fundamentals in Python, and understand how AI affects our lives. No coding experience is necessary. The AUC Data Science Initiative will award a badge credential (shareable on LinkedIn and social networks) to students who complete all course requirements.
