Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or accelerated master’s program graduating between Winter 2024 – Spring 2025
- A strong focus and interest in technology (Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or another related field)
- Familiarity with agile software development; exposure to application development lifecycles and how it integrates with operations
- Basic understanding of infrastructure, middleware, ITSM fundamentals, database, project management
- Experience with Java, SQL, Python, Linux preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent communication skills, ability and willingness to tackle complex problems

The ADFA directs and manages finances, operations, human resources, and administration to support the implementation of the strategic goals, strategies, and objectives of the NSF NDSA. Data Engineering Intern

Data Engineers are fundamental to the success of our client engagements by acting as the bridge between raw client data and Mastercard’s software. Data Engineers work closely with both Consultants while working on consulting engagements and Software Development Engineers while working to develop internal capabilities. Data Engineers are responsible for:
- Designing processes to extract, transform, and load (ETL) terabytes of data into Mastercard’s analytics platform
- Sourcing data from clients, government and other third party data sources, and Mastercard’s transaction data warehouse
- Working across multiple teams, both internal and external, in order to determine the data requirements and business logic applicable to each data set
- Tackling big data problems across various industries

Data Scientist Intern

Job Description As a Data Scientist Intern, you will:
- Conduct analyses on the effectiveness of product offerings by examining the real-world impacts of customer use. For instance, do banks that assess cyber risk before partnering with a merchant suffer less downstream fraud? How much money can a merchant save, in data breaches avoided, by subscribing to Mastercard’s cyber monitoring product?
- Gain subject matter knowledge on cybersecurity best practices and common types of fraud. Advise technical teams in accordance with subject matter knowledge and participate in educational initiatives.
- Competently handle large datasets, sifting for patterns and trends and translate those insights into technical solutions and education materials.
- Work closely with marketing and product to translate analysis into promotional materials.
- Partner with other teams (Safety Net, Smart Authentication, Data Strategy) to combine multiple sources of data in new and insightful ways.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree, or an accelerated Masters program, majoring in Computer Science or a related field with a graduation date of December 2025 or beyond
- Experience in AI/ML and other data mining techniques while working on large datasets
- Experience with Java, R, Python, and other languages
- An understanding of or experience with statistical software and data visualization tools such as Tableau, SPSS, SAS, and UNIX shell scripting
- Experience having applied data science learning to an internship or research/lab position
- Experience retrieving data from databases and other systems and tools using queries, exporting capabilities, and other effective methods
- Excellent communication skills, especially for group work and presentations to differing audiences
