Required Qualifications:
· Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university

· Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
· Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization. F-1 visa holders with Optional Practical Training (OPT) who will require H-1B status, TNs, or current H-1B visa holders will not be considered. H1-B and green card sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred Qualifications:
·Pursuing degree in Information Technology, Healthcare, Project Management, business, economics, statistics, mathematics, or another related field
·3.00 cumulative GPA or higher

The Atlanta University Center (AUC) Data Science Initiative (DSI) invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of Industry Engagement beginning as early as January 1, 2024. As part of the leadership team, the Assistant Director of Industry Engagement is responsible for working with the Director to develop programs, forge industry connections, and foster other career supports at HBCUs with a focus on strengthening computing and computer science and computing departments and connecting students to careers and professionals. This position will support the recruitment and activities of in-demand computing or computer science faculty members (up to 3 positions) at Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, and Spelman College. This position will support the work of these faculty members, who will catalyze the development of industry-informed curriculum and programming across computing and computer science departments at HBCUs. The Assistant Director of Industry Engagement will establish the HBCU Data Science Career Hub to connect HBCU students to data science careers and industry professionals. The Hub will engage with HBCU career services offices to provide training that prepares students for data science-oriented positions.

To perform this job successfully, the Assistant Director of Industry Engagement must be able to handle competing priorities in a growing initiative by effectively leveraging resources to meet deadlines for numerous projects. To carry out these duties, the Assistant Director of Industry Engagement will develop and be responsible for managing personnel and budgets that come under these areas. The ideal candidate will have computer science expertise and experience in working with industry and higher education on data science-related activities. The Assistant Director of Industry Engagement will serve an initial three-year term, renewable depending on funding, and may be on a non-paid leave of absence from their home institution.

The Atlanta University Center (AUC) Data Science Initiative invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of Programs beginning as early as January 1, 2024. As part of the leadership team, the Assistant Director of Programs is responsible for working with the Director to develop, refine, and implement strategic programs that support faculty development and student enrichment activities across HBCUs. The Initiative’s portfolio programs for faculty and/or students include workshops/trainings, mini-grants, travel and training support, faculty recruitment and recognition, student data challenges, PreFreshman Experience (PFx), symposiums, and clubs. The Assistant Director of Programs is responsible for the successful execution of programs, including recruitment, oversight, evaluation, and reporting of programming activities.

To perform this job successfully, the Assistant Director of Programs must be able to handle competing priorities in a growing initiative by effectively leveraging resources to meet deadlines for numerous projects. The Atlanta University Center (AUC) Consortium invites applications for the position of the AUC Data Science Initiative Grants and Finance Manager beginning as early as March 15, 2024. The AUC Data Science Initiative (DSI) is located in Atlanta, GA, and was established in 2019 through an investment from UnitedHealth Group, and is launching HBCU-wide programs with a grant from Mastercard in 2023. The Initiative serves as a hub to catalyze data science education and research across all Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), stewarded by the AUC-member institutions, Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, Morehouse School of Medicine, and Spelman College, as well as the AUC Robert W. Woodruff Library.

As a core member of the AUC Data Science Initiative’s leadership team, the Grants and Finance Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of grants and contracts from various entities, setting up organizational systems for close monitoring of expenditures, documenting payments, generating periodic financial reports as well as invoices, optimizing the grant administration process, preparing progress reports, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, managing grant databases, engaging with funding agencies, and defining and educating the team on financial processes and policies of the AUC Consortium.

To perform this job successfully, the Grants and Finance Manager must be able to handle fast-moving, competing priorities in a growing initiative by effectively leveraging resources to meet deadlines for numerous projects. To carry out these duties, the ideal candidate should demonstrate high integrity in financial matters and will work to build processes that are improved over a period of time.

The Grants and Finance Manager reports to the AUC Data Science Initiative’s Director and works closely with the AUC Data Science Initiative’s staff and the AUC Consortium’s operations and accounting staff.

What you’ll do
• Apply scientific methods to solve real-world business problems using data
• Utilize cutting edge statistical and machine learning methods to dig deep into complex data to deliver data-driven solutions across all areas of the business
• Bring a broad and deep knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence to enhancing Best Buy’s core data science capabilities
• Leverage best practices from software development & design to support building scalable, legible, and reproducible machine learning experiments
• Work with key business partners to identify the biggest opportunities to influence key decisions that impact and improve the lives of millions of people

Basic qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a highly quantitative field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, Operations Research, etc) or equivalent experience.
• Intermediate data mining skills with an ability to work with massive datasets
• Experience with at least one deep learning framework (e.g., pytorch, tensorflow) and one generalized statistical and machine learning library (e.g., Scikit-Learn)
• Experience with scientific computing in a cloud environment (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure)
• 2 years of experience contributing to development of ML and/or AI driven products or capabilities or other related functions (e.g. ML science or engineering, data science, advanced analytics). Advanced degrees in relevant fields may be counted towards experience requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree or higher in a highly quantitative field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, Operations Research, etc)
• Previous retail industry experience in data science, machine learning, or AI
• Strong familiarity with designing large-scale machine learning experiments in GCP using VertexAI

Spelman College’s Social Justice Program, in conjunction with Census Information Center (CIC) and Bonner office, is seeking a Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) to join our team for the 2023-2024 academic year. The GRA will be responsible for providing research and administrative support to the “Communities Who Know” (CWK) Principal Investigator and other research staff. Likewise, the GRA will help manage a team of undergraduate researchers. The successful candidate will work up to 15 hours per week.

GRA Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist in the development and implementation of research projects, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation
• Assist in the development and maintenance of the CWK data dashboard
• Prepare reports, manuscripts, and presentations for academic conferences and publications
• Assist in the preparation of grant applications and other funding documents
• Assist in the preparation of research protocols, study designs, and questionnaires
• Attend conferences and meetings to present research findings
• Monitor academic literature in the field of study

Graduate Research Assistant Requirements and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in a social science field

The Department of Chemistry at Morehouse College invites applicants to apply for a full-time (9-month contract) tenure-track faculty position beginning in August Fall 2024 in the field of experimental physical chemistry or computational/theoretical physical chemistry at the interface of chemistry, biology, and data science. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate the ability to teach undergraduate chemistry courses using innovative pedagogy, establish an externally funded and productive undergraduate research program in computational chemistry, computational chemical biology, cheminformatics, or scientific computing, and participate in service-related activities within the department and college.
